A passion rediscovered and faceless faces.

DATEAGLE ART met with Piers Alsop at his Bethnal Green studio. Framed behind a vibrantly painted backdrop – a mural dedicated to Alsop’s late father, the Royal Academician Will Alsop – are a selection of Piers’ striking canvases. Having graduated from Camberwell College of Arts in 2007, it is only in the last year that Piers began focusing on painting again. Since then, Alsop has embraced being back in the studio, fully appreciating the freedom he finds in its process. His 2018 work Night Youth Interior is currently on show at this years Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, coordinated by Grayson Perry and has inspired him to consider exhibiting, as his practice continues to evolve and commissions have started to come in. Alsop’s canvases often begin as collages, constructed from found images or photos he has taken.
